Appleby Utility Diversion Letter Feb 24

United Utilities and Northern Gas will be carrying out essential works lasting 4-5 weeks, starting on Monday, 26 February on thirty metres of highway between the junctions of High Wiend/Doomgate and Chapel Street/Holme Street. This will entail the closure of one lane and there will be temporary traffic management in place whilst the work is going on.

During the second phase, a small section of Chapel Street (between Broad Close car park entrance and the Tufton cobbles) will be closed, and there will be two-way traffic lights on either side of Low Wiend, for 3-4 weeks. This is anticipated to start towards the end of March. We appreciate these road works will be disruptive, but access will be maintained at all times to Pigney’s fuel station, the Doctor’s (Riverside Building) and the Leisure Centre, as well as all other businesses on Low Wiend and Chapel Street.
