Appleby Town Council are carrying out a ‘place assessment’ survey of Appleby to help identify local issues and priorities.  This is being done using a nationally recognised assessment tool, in partnership with Westmorland & Furness Council, as part of Appleby’s Area Planning Group work.

The assessment survey can be completed:
– online, using the following link: https://www.ourplace.scot/tool/start/appleby-in-westmorland
– or by hand if preferred (copies of the survey are available from Appleby TIC).

The questions in the survey ask residents of Appleby to think about both the physical and social aspects of where you live and the important relationship between them.  The survey has 14 themes, which you are asked to rate on a scale of 1 to 7 and you can also add comments against each question if you wish.

The 14 themes are:

  • Moving Around
  • Public Transport
  • Streets & Spaces
  • Traffic & Parking
  • Natural Space
  • Play & Recreation
  • Facilities & Services
  • Work & Local Economy
  • Housing & Community
  • Social Interaction
  • Identity & Belonging
  • Feeling Safe
  • Care & Maintenance
  • Influence & Sense of Control

It is hoped the information gathered from the assessment can be used to help inform and shape the local action plan of projects and priorities for the future.
